In the past, many people with alignment issues in their smile, elected to live with it. Their only other viable option was to have  metal bracket and wire braces installed in their mouth. Now Invisalign® offers an effective and cosmetically appealing alternative to metal braces, to give you the even smile you’ve always wanted.

The process of being fitted for Invisalign aligners starts with our orthodontist, Dr. Doug Jensen examining your mouth and taking digital impressions of your teeth. This gives us a clear understanding of the structure of your mouth and also helps to define your alignment goals.  That information will serve as a guide for the Invisalign laboratory that produces your custom sets of aligners.

Each set of aligners is designed to gradually adjust the periodontal ligaments anchoring your teeth in their sockets. You will need to wear the aligners for 20 to 22 hours a day to minimize the total duration of the realignment process.

Over the course of one or two weeks, depending on your situation, your teeth will gradually move into their ideal positions. You will then switch to the next set of aligners, to continue the process. Although every person is different, the average amount of time an adult will need to use the Invisalgn system is approximately twelves months.

When you have Invisalign aligners in your mouth, you can drink normally. However, you will need to remove them when eating and to clean them. You should not smoke and chew gum with the aligners in your mouth. When you are not wearing the aligners you should keep them in their case.
