Being new to any orthodontic treatment does require adjustment. That is why to help you learn to care for your Invisalign® aligner properly, Dr. Jensen with Jensen Orthodontic Arts in McKinney, Texas is happy to provide advice so you can keep your aligner and smile in tip-top shape.

An essential thing to remember while you transitioning your smile with Invisalign is to brush and floss your teeth regularly–mainly because if plaque, bacteria, or other food particles are stuck on your teeth, your Invisalign aligner is snapped over it, forcing it to stay there until you clean it away. This can dramatically increase cavities and risk of gum disease. However, if you are repetitively keeping your teeth clean and fresh as often as possible, then, in turn, this can increase your positive oral health by protecting your teeth and keeping them clean and healthy.

When you brush and floss your teeth, remember your aligners. It’s vital to rinse it out and gently clean it thoroughly. If you enjoy drinking tea, coffee, or any other dark drinks, remember to take out your aligner or use a straw, so your aligner will not darken or stain. Keeping your aligner clean can help keep your teeth clean and make your smile beautiful.
