At the end of your orthodontic journey, Dr. Jensen will happily remove your braces and let you enjoy your new-and-improved smile. However, before you go home, there are things our orthodontic team needs to do to help you have the best smile and oral health possible.

The first thing we’ll do is thoroughly clean your smile. This will involve removing any excess glue that clings to your teeth as well as eliminating any stains or particles that are left. After the cleaning, Dr. Jensen will likely take some X-rays to ensure everything is in tip-top shape. Then, he will most likely check for wisdom tooth problems. If necessary, he will discuss necessary treatment options with you.

The second thing we’ll do is create a retainer for you and your smile. There are two different retainers we can give you. One retainer is a removable appliance that can be made from plastic and a metal wire or made from complete plastic, like an Invisalign® aligner. The second retainer is a permanent retainer, which is a strong metal wire that we cement to the back surfaces of your front teeth. Dr. Jensen might give you one or both retainers, depending on your smile’s condition.
